Charles R. Bell

Charles R. Bell was born on January 10, 1927 in Parnassus, Westmoreland County.  He lived at R.D. #1 in New Kensington, Westmoreland County at the time he was drafted into military service which occurred on January 31, 1944.  His entry to military service occurred out of Pittsburgh. He would go on to serve his country during World War II over the next two years in the Navy and rose to the rank of Seaman, 1st Class during his time in Active Duty.  


On May 5, 1946, Charles separated from active duty while in Bainbridge, Maryland and returned to Western Pennsylvania, where he spent the next 33 years as a part time policeman while also working a 30 year career at Alcoa.  In addition to these accomplishments, Charles also founded the Allegheny Township Fire Department and was an active member of the department for the duration of his life, helping set up its current location in 1948.
