Bernard J. Milewski 

Bernard J Milewski was born on Jan. 22nd 1919 and died on November 22nd 2008. His parents were Simon and Agatha Milewski.He has four sisters. But sadly two of his sisters and a nephew passed away before him.The two sisters that passed away  were Frances Zane and Loretta Ruzbacki. His nephew’s name was Joseph Gobis. The two sisters that survived are Sally Gobis and Ruth Ann. His sister Sally Gobis lives in Toms River New Jersey, and Ruth Ann Wilmington lives in Delaware.He has 5 nieces and three nephews. One of his nieces is Eloise (Zane) Lesko of Duquesne.The second one is Valerie Zane of West Mifflin. The third niece is  Patricia (Milutis) Bettineschi of Roswell Georgia. The fourth is Sheryl (Marshall) Dahl, of Wilmington Delaware. The fifth is Judith Marshall of New York City, New York.  One of his nephews is Will Marshall. The second one is John Bernard Marshall. The third one is James Marshall. They all live in Wilmington. Then he has six grandnieces and three grandnephews. 

Bernard lived in East Vandergrift for all his life.Before he went into the war he was a water tender for the U.S. Steel of Vandergrift for 40 years. If he wasn't working, he was playing guitar,singing or gardening.On Tuesday afternoons he would  be bowling at Lee’s Lanes in East Vandergrift. He was also on the bowling league that they have there.In 1936 he graduated from the Vandegrift High School. Benrad served two sessions during World War 2. The first session he served was May 23,1942 to October 27, 1942. Then he re-enlisted and he served from February 25,1944 to July 12 1945.He entered the active service at New Cumberland,Pennsylvania on February 25,1944. He did get separated from his camp at Camp Atterbury Indiana on April 3,1946.He served domestic service for 22 months and he served 8 months for foreign service.
