Natale Lella

Natale Lella was born in Capurso, Italy on April 9t, 1887.  He did not attend school, which unfortunately made him unable to read or write.  Natale Lella did speak Italian, and English when he came over to the states in 1903. He got married to Rose Cupertino at age 34 and purchased a house in Washington Township, Westmoreland County in Pennsylvania. Natale Lella and Rose Cupertino gave birth to a beautiful child, Florence Lella. To provide for his family, Natale Lella got a job as a stonemason before he enlisted into the Army in World War I. At age 55, Natale Lella was drafted into World War II. He served fearlessly in both wars, and died a hero to many on August 23rd, 1951.
