Harry Lloyd Black

Harry Lloyd Black was born April 8, 1892 in Vandergrift Pennsylvania. He was drafted into World War I at the age of 25, and went on to serve from 1917-1919. Black was part of the Army, ranked as a private First Class. He was a part of the East Company, 320th Infantry among the 80th division. During combat, he sustained an injury to his left leg, and was awarded a Purple Heart. As part of the 320th Infantry, he was part of the battles & campaigns of St. Michael, Meuse, and Argonne. 

After his service to our country, Harry Lloyd Black went on to get married to Myrtle Black. They had three children, two boys and a girl: Jean, Paul, and Donald. After only being educated up to 8th grade, he became a mill- worker to provide for his family, and in February, 1952 he passed away. He was buried in his hometown of Vandergrift, Pennsylvania in the Vandergrift Cemetery.
