Clyde T. Henneman

Born September 15, 1892 to Henry and Annie Henneman, Clyde Thomas Henneman was born into a busy household in Jefferson County. With 6 other siblings, three being half-siblings, Clyde was the firstborn to his father’s new wife. As the middle child, Clyde Henneman often competed for attention with his brothers and sisters. Away from home, Clyde found solace in painting at his job at Carnegie-Illinois Steel Company. When he was 24, he enlisted into WWI where he served overseas in St. Nazaire, France from 1910-1939. Henneman served as a private at Base Hospital 26, tending to the wounded. Throughout his life, Henneman remained a quiet and sensitive man. Returning from war, Cyde fell in love with Susanna M. Lowe, and were wed when Clyde was 32. Together, Clyde and Susanna had three children: Nancy, Susanna and Sarah Emiline. At the age of 61, Clyde passed away the day after Christmas in 1957. He is now buried in Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell with his wife (deceased 1994,) the words “Together Forever” written on their tomb.
