Welcome to the KASD Professional Learning Website. Here you will find Teacher Resources and PL opportunities through P.L.A.Y.
Students can join the Lumio presentation on any device. They are able to use a Chromebook, iPad, Phone, etc. For students to join the lesson, have them follow the following steps:
Go to hellosmart.com and click the "Sign In" button.
Click "Sign In With Google" and have them use their kiskiarea.com Google Account.
If the student has never signed into Lumio before, they will have to set up an account. Have them check the "Minor" box so they can create a student account.
Once the student has signed in, they will be brought to the "Class ID" screen. Have your students enter your Lumio Class ID.
Students will be placed in a waiting room until you start the lesson.
Once you start a lesson, the student will be brought into the lesson automatically.
While you are presenting a lesson, there will be a gray bar on the left side of your display. This bar contains all of the tools that you would need during present mode.
Three Horizontal Lines: These are just general settings for your Lumio presentation. You may, edit, share, or make a copy of your lesson.
Share Function: Using the share function will allow you to create a version of the lesson that students will be able to access at any time, even if you are not actively running it. You may post this link on Google Classroom as homework, independent classwork, etc. You may also create a teacher link that will allow teachers to make a copy of your lesson.
Student Menu: This menu will allow you to see all of the students who are currently connected to your lesson. You may also change lesson pacing from teacher mode to student mode, which will allow students to navigate through the lesson at their own pace. You may also instantly convert a page to an activity.
Editing Tools: These tools will allow you to select, write, erase, add text, or reset the page. When using a SMART Display connected to a Windows laptop, Lumio will automatically switch to ink/eraser mode when using the displays pens.
Add Page: While in your lesson, you can instantly add another page. You may pick between a whiteboard, whole-class whiteboard, shout it out, or a Desmos Graphing Calculator activity.
As long as elements are not locked, you may edit the presentation while in present mode. To edit text while presenting, double click on the text you want to edit.
When you have an interactive page in your lesson, you will have to manually start the activity for the class. To do this, simply click the "Start for Class" button on the page.
If you have a page that has been converted to an activity, you will see the option "Student Progress" instead of "Start For Class".
When you are in the student progress menu, you will see all the students who have started the activity. Clicking on their name will allow you to see what they are doing on that page in real time.
