Soft skills is often times valued more within the workforce." We hear that phrase all the time but how do we translate that within the classroom to what we teach? Hear some simple concepts, learn about a couple tools, and build enthusiasm around developing and showcasing your student's brand to strengthen self and have community impact.

Twitter Chat #808Educate

Supported and inspired by the #808educate community, Innovation into Impact was a Twitter chat hosted on September 25, 2019 by West Hawai'i educators, Bill Chen, Christopher Pike, and Mathieu Williams. This chat featured questions, thoughts, and resources to prepare Hawai'i teachers for the 2020 Innovation Grants. 2019 EdTech Conference

Students were asked to share about their Virtual Field Trip project and the importance of 'āina based education at the 2019 EdTech conference. This pilot project was a proud partnership with Kamehameha Schools and Arizona State University.

2019 HĀ Summit

In April 2019, students were asked to share the exploration, possibility, and impact of using digital media to capture and share the stories of HĀ for others to experience. In a gallery walk style presentation, participants heard about the collaborative HĀ projects with Kamehameha Schools and Queen Lili’uokalani. Discovered various student perspectives of learning the value of one’s own mo’olelo in order to to capture the mo’olelo of others. Finally, students shared best practices for creating the right learning conditions centered in HĀ, to foster critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

At the 2018 Schools of the Future Conference, students had the opportunity of sharing how HĀ: Nā Hopena A'o framework has shaped their mindsets, creativity, and school and community projects.
