GO GUARDIAN TEACHER HELP FOCUSED BROWSING These are a few common issues:
If you cannot see the students screen from your session:
It could be they have not updated their Chromebook . Chrome does it automatically, but only when the device is restarted. Force a restart by holding the reload key and the power key. This is very common with Daily use Chromebooks.
The student may be logged in as another student which is a violation of AUP as passwords are not to be shared.
If you have a student who comes to your class saying they are blocked from a previous class, it may show the teacher’s name on the screen or in the URL.
This is usually caused by the student getting the blocked message while in the other teacher’s class and closing the lid on the Chromebook. When they open it in your class the screen is still captured. Just restart the Chromebook.
It could also be that the teacher started a manual class using the timer and forgot to end the session or that they set their class schedules using the wrong times. (Scheduling may cause issues on days like assembly schedule etc.)
Be aware if you allow multiple tabs in your scene that are not focused to a specific website, the student can use those to get to email, music and movies that you think you are blocking.
You can access email from any web browser on any device including your smart phone, tablet, home computer etc. You do not have to install email on your phone to get access to your email. Most of our Chromebooks use a standard 7.4 mm /65W Dell barrel charger that comes with the majority of Dell laptops. Chances are, if you've ever owned a Dell laptop, you have one of these chargers in your "adapter graveyard" that we all seem to collect. Our 7th grade and 9th grade device use a standard 65W USB-C which you may also have around to charge other USB-C devices.
