Reading Academies

Based on House Bill 3 (HB 3), all K-3 teachers, including special education teachers, and principals are required to attend the HB 3 Reading Academies. Additional KISD staff that are required to complete Reading Academies are: assistant principals, 4th grade teachers (all content areas), reading interventionists, and GT specialists.

KISD participants will be enrolled in Reading Academies (Comprehensive Model) through Region 11 the summer following their first year of employment in Kennedale. Participants completing Reading Academies on paid contract time may not use these hours to meet the district FLEX requirement.
