About Me

Tammie Hughes Thompson

My professional background includes teaching pre-K through 8th grades in public education, 5-8th grades in private education, tutoring students in reading and math, as well as several years of homeschooling my own 3 children.

My upper level educational experience began at Kilgore Junior College, home of the Rangers. Then I went on to gain my Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Tyler, while my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership was earned from Stephen F. Austin State University. Go Lumberjacks!

I have held roles as an ESL program coordinator, reading and ESL pullout teacher and classroom teacher.

My hobbies over the years have included traveling, reading, walking, jogging, hiking in the piney woods, serving through east Texas churches and being a part of a Rusk County Search and Rescue Team. This summer I discovered I enjoy chasing waterfalls. My daughter and I traveled through the state of Arkansas searching out waterfalls and even a couple of caves.

I love the east Texas community and am so thankful to call it home.
