In the New Horizons Program, the students focus on independent living skills, self-advocacy skills, employability skills, and recreation and leisure skills. The New Horizons program serves special education students between the ages of 18 through 22 years that have completed all state testing and graduation requirements.
NEW HORIZONS MISSION: Kilgore ISD is committed to providing quality transition services which foster independence, develop employability skills, promote self-determination, and prepare students for integration into their community.
ABOUT ME: I have been an educator for 36 years. I taught Kindergarten in Beckville ISD, 3-year olds and 4-year olds at Kilgore College Early Childhood Center, Pre-K and Kindergarten ESL at Kilgore Heights, Family and Consumer Science at KHS, Life Skills at KHS, SpEd Case Manager at KHS, retired for 2 1/2 years and then came back to KHS to teach the New Horizons program.
