We recommend that you create an Apple ID for your child through the Family Sharing program. An Apple ID is required to download Apps.
The Family Organizer (Parent) can approve Apps for download.
Your data, iMessages, photos, and files stay separate.
A single App can be purchased and shared between five family members.
You can setup device permissions and ScreenTime on your child's iPad.
To set up Family Sharing, you must have an Apple ID. If you do not have an Apple ID, create your Apple ID here.
PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to own an Apple device to create an Apple ID, but you DO Need an Apple device to set up Family Sharing. If you do not own an Apple device, simply create an Apple ID for your child. When setting up any Apple ID or iPad, record the account email address, password, answers to security questions and iPad Passcode. Keep them in a safe place as all of this information may be needed to recover the account and iPad if the device is ever locked.
We recommend leaving the "Ask to Buy" feature enabled. This will require your child to ask for permission before downloading Apps.
During setup you will need to create a strong and memorable password. We suggest creating the password with your child's and combining 2-3 words together, such as:
cat-dog-hamster
computer-phone-minecraft
Please Keep this password in a safe place; We recommend using a password manager such as 1Password or Lastpass.
PLEASE NOTE: When asked to set up Screen Time for your child, select "Not Now"; Screen Time will be set up after downloading the required Apps.
