Venice Arts seeks a Lead Filmmaker and a Lead Photographer to teach after-school (4-6pm) in our Media Arts Mentoring + Education programs. There is currently one class available in each discipline, on Wednesdays from 4-6pm for youth ages 12-15: Photo Stories, where youth work on personal and collaborative storytelling projects; and, Direct This, a narrative, collaborative film class. There may be an opportunity to add classes for teens on Thursdays, 4-6pm, depending on enrollment, as well as growth opportunities for high-caliber educators, who understand the power of storytelling and are adept at experiential, project-based learning.
The ideal candidates are filmmakers and photographers with background in documentary and other storytelling practices, and with at least two years experience developing and delivering arts education to youth. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position and successful candidates have the opportunity to add classes and work year-round on a seasonal basis (academic year, summer Media Arts Camp).
