High School Placement

8th Grade Vision

The 8th Grade Vision: Our end of the year goal for the 2020-2021 school year is High School Readiness. As a team, we hope our 8th grade students will build responsibility through organization, advocacy, growth and emotional intelligence in order to be High School Ready. We will provide tools for students to learn to organize their time, selves and assignments. We will teach students to be emotionally intelligent, resulting in an awareness of their own feelings, the feelings of others, and a better understanding of how to navigate the relationships in their classrooms and society. We will challenge students to advocate for themselves and others in the most professional manner, keeping empathy at the forefront of their minds. Lastly, we will honor and celebrate our students’ growth because we want to instill the importance of the journey and its lessons so that they can successfully navigate their future once they leave Sol and journey into adulthood.

Love- Lifting others as we climb with our care, empathy and compassion.

Advocacy- The ability to define ourselves, name ourselves, create think and speak for ourselves so we never risk being defined, named, created, or spoken for by others

Excellence- Having the courage to take risks in the pursuit of our truth, our goals, and our passions.

Ganas- The desire to approach all situations, particularly challenging ones, with determination and enthusiasm.

Reflection- Taking the time to examine ourselves and to make choices that make us proud.

KIPP SOL AFFIRMATION

“I am powerful, unique and unafraid to make change. I speak for myself because I am a leader who will never be defined by others. I am a voice for the silenced who believes in the greatness of my community. I strive for excellence and push harder when others give up. I am a KIPP Sol Advocate and, in solidarity, we are strong in mind (touch head), body (touch shoulders) and soul (touch heart).
