Kayla Titus is our 8th Grade Math Learning Coordinator. She is a North Carolina Teaching Fellow graduate from East Carolina University in North Carolina. Kayla has been a math coach and educator for the past 7 years in grade levels ranging from 4th through 11th grade, in North Carolina, Texas, and now Washington, DC!
Kayla is an educator to be a voice for her students in spaces they have not yet entered, and to be an advocate for the quality education they deserve. She is an educator to reflect the teachers she had personally that molded her into the woman she is today. She is an educator to build and guide the future leaders of tomorrow.
Being a part of the KIPP DC Virtual Learning Program is important to Kayla because it embodies her personal goals as an educator and forever learner - a growth mindset, goal setting and mastery, persistence even through adversity, inquiry, and most importantly, a strong family foundation!
MS. SWAN - 8TH GRADE ELA LEARNING COORDINATOR
Email: Faith.Swan@kippdc.org
Faith Swan is our 8th grade ELA Learning Coordinator. She studied English with a concentration in literature at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA before completing her Master’s in the Arts of Teaching. She is licensed to teach secondary English, as well as Special Education. She has been a teacher for 7 years in grade levels ranging from 8th to 12th grade in Virginia and Washington, DC. Before joining the VLP team, she taught 10th graders at KIPP DC College Preparatory for 3 years.
Faith loves teaching 8th grade because she knows she has a lot of potential to make a positive impact. In 8th grade, students are starting to think about college, careers, and the crazy world of high school. She designs her course to be a rich and engaging experience that helps students become better readers, writers, listeners, speakers, and most of all, critical thinkers. Her philosophy as a teacher is to equip students with transferrable skills, so that what they learn in English class helps them in real life.
