Curriculum: Savvas Reading and Shurley Grammar

iReady Reading - 2 passed lessons per week

Accelerated Reader (AR): Every quarter students will have an AR goal. Quarter 1 everyone starts at 10 points for their goal. Quarters 2-4 goals will be based on student preformance. AR is 10% of the reading grade and every quarter non-fiction points are required.

Savvas: The Savvas 5th grade Reading textbook focuses on building knowledge and skills through interactive lessons and engaging activities, and it's designed to enhance reading comprehension, writing, and vocabulary development. The program is grounded in the Science of Reading and provides foundational skills instruction, along with opportunities for differentiated instruction and customized practice. 

This year in language arts, we will read many genres of literature using the textbook and novels. We will read as a class and individually. We will use the writing process to produce many types of writing. To enhance student writing, we will also study spelling and grammar.
