My name is Michael Little Owl; I am certified as an AZ School Psychologist. I received an Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology from the University of Montana; I'm an enrolled tribal member of the Aaniiih tribe from Fort Belknap, MT, and I share roots with the Mandan and Hidatsa tribes. I have worked with the dorm since 2008. I'm married and a father to two sons. My fortes consist of technology, grammar, and, above all, understanding behavior. Growing up presented its share of challenges, but fortunately, I crossed paths with a handful of good people, so I learned encouragement helps, and that's crucial when you're first starting. I attributed my passion for helping young people to none other than my coach, teachers, relatives, neighbors, and parents. From my experiences with these role models, I observed firsthand what it takes to develop a good rapport and garner respect so kids can work towards their personal best, cultivating a growth mindset. I'm excited to learn about how our Native students navigate the world around them, find their footing, grow from their experiences, and then seize the opportunity to get a better education to thrive in life. Follow the golden rule: neither relent on your ambitions nor cease on your God-given talent.

Greetings, As the dorm counselor, I offer academic and emotional support. Besides providing counseling at the dorm, I also work with other counselors at the high school and around town. We offer individual counseling, groups, intervention plans, art, traditional games, crisis services, and referrals to other community partners. I treat confidentiality with the utmost importance. The only time I report is when abuse is disclosed and deemed reportable by law. Parental consent starts the journey.
