News received that Mr F.W. Fineran has died of wounds received in action in Sicily.
9.9.43. In celebration of the capitulation of Italy - officially announced last evening - 30 minutes extension to 'play' was granted this afternoon.
10.5.45. The two preceding days were VE days - that is official holidays following the unconditional surrender of all armed German fighting services.
11.5.48. School closed on account of visit of the King & Queen to Birmingham.
