Why we have a Bonfire Night

We celebrate Bonfire Night because of a man called Guy Fawkes. He wanted to kill King James because he would not allow Catholics to worship freely.

Who was involved in the plot?

Guy Fawkes worked with Robert Catesby and other plotters to blow up King James and the Houses of Parliament.

What was the plan?

They put 36 barrels underneath House of Parliament in the cellar .

Why did it fail?

A man called Lord Monteagle was sent a letter and the letter was taken to the King.

How do we remember it?

We remember it today because there are fireworks. We celebrate it with a big bonfire and fireworks.
