Welcome to Kings County Office of Education (KCOE) Intern Program. The KCOE Multiple Subject Credential Intern program is designed to build the capacity of future teachers to meet the diverse needs of all students in the classrooms of Kings County and beyond. Our program was founded in 2020 after consulting with the districts we serve. A common need for additional multiple subject credentialed teachers was identified. In order to best serve our educational community and student population, the KCOE Intern Program was created.
After completion of the required 120 hours of Pre-Service through KCOE or another accredited program, KCOE Multiple Subject Intern candidates will participate in a two year, CTC approved program that includes research based courses, 144 hours of yearly general supervision and support and 45 hours of yearly English Language Learner supervision and support (for candidates who do not currently hold an EL authorization). During this time, candidates are employed with a partnering school district as a teacher of record.
Candidates teach full time while earning their credential in a hybrid program including both face-to-face and online classes. Candidates engage in course specific fieldwork and have opportunities to observe instruction. Trained and experienced field supervisors and site/district mentors are assigned to support the application of learning to the classroom. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, candidates are recommended to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing for a Multiple Subject preliminary credential.
KCOE is committed to providing high quality Pre-Service and Intern programs. Our candidates will receive research-based, current instructional content and on-going fieldwork support and supervision that meets the individual needs of each candidate.
Empower educators to effectively implement California’s standards and frameworks so all students reach their full potential by providing support through the collaboration of Kings County Office of Education, field supervisors, school and district administrators, and site/district mentors.
