As part of Appledore Book Festival's School week, Duncan Beedie visited our EYFS and Year 1 and Year 2 classes. He spoke to the children about his books and the illustrations that he he creates.
Duncan ran a draw along session with all children who created some excellent illustrations before finishing the session with a live reading from his book Hank The Honk.
ks2 author visit - joseph elliott
As part of Appledore Book Festival's School week, Joseph Elliott visited KS2 classes and spoke to the children about his books and what inspired him to write these. We learnt all about the characters and the magical worlds that he creates. He was really impressed by the excellent questions that the children asked him about his books and writing.
World Mental Health Day - A Whole School Project
As part of our raising awareness about the importance of looking after our mental health, this year we have decided to focus on the fact that learning new things and being creative can really help our well-being.
We have gone even bigger with our whole school project this year with each child receiving a clay flower that they are painting in their Family Group colours.
In the first week, the children were introduced to the project and its link to mental health and planned how they would like to paint their flowers.
This week they painted the base coat and next week they will be adding some creative detail to their flowers. All the children are really enjoying the project and we are looking forward to seeing the final display in the Library.
harvest festival - st brannocks church
We all enjoyed our Harvest Festival at St Brannock’s Church on Wednesday. The weather was kind and the children were thankfully able to walk to and from the Church without getting wet! We were so proud of the children’s behaviour, singing and enthusiasm for our Harvest celebration and am grateful to Reverend David and his team for their warm welcome.
A huge thank you to all of our families for their generosity. The donations for Braunton’s Foodbank were incredible and it is wonderful to think about how many local families we have been able to help. The Charity Captains had to make many journeys to and from the Church in order to help the representative from Braunton Foodbank load their car - there certainly wasn’t much space left in it by the time we had finished!
Our Spooktacular Halloween Disco - raising money for mind
Our Halloween Disco was great fun and helped to raise lots of money for a great mental health charity - Mind. Thank you to the team for their hard work in setting this up and to the children for their great dance moves and brilliant costumes!
