Spring Newsletter

English

Dan The Hat joined us in February, to teach us a variety of circus skills. We tried balancing peacock feathers, juggling and even plate spinning!

This will help us with our portal stories, based on Leon and the Place Between.

In January, we were writing explanation texts, starting with "Why Is Poo Brown?"

We followed that format to create our own explanation texts. Some ideas that the children tried to explain were:

Why Do Magpies Like Shiny Things?

Why Can't You Touch A Rainbow?

Maths

In maths, we have been consolidating our skills with multiplying and dividing. These skills have been applied to solve problems including area and perimeter - and will be very useful as we start our work on fractions.

We are really focusing on learning ALL of our times tables, so that we  are ready for the Multiplication Tables Check in June!

Following our visit from Dan The Hat, we have been using circuits to create 'light boxes'.

Initially, we had to check that we could complete a circuit, trying our hardest to hide the wires from view.

We than went on to design and create our own light boxes, to include a functioning switch!
