You can purchase your own device privately but it must meet the minimum device specifications and be handed into the school to be enrolled.

Apple iPad preparation

New iPad

• No preparation required. Please do not set up the iPad.

Recycled iPad

• If you are reusing a siblings iPad whose device is already enrolled with the school, you do not need to follow the steps below. Please hand the iPad into the school, and complete the device receipt form with your child's details (the student who will now use the device).

• If you are repurposing an old iPad please ensure you do the following before handing the device into the school:

  • Back up the iPad*

  • Log out of and family sharing

  • Remove parental controls 

  • Disable screen time restrictions

  • Log out of Apple ID

  • Turn off passcode

• • Ensure device is charged

*Please note that the iPad will be wiped and reset to factory setting during enrolment. Although a backup can be taken this cannot be restored onto the enrolled device. The backup can only be transferred to another non-school managed device.

MS Surface preparation 

New Surface

• No preparation required. Please do not set up the Surface.

Recycled Surface

• If you are reusing a siblings Surface whose device is already enrolled with the school, you do not need to follow the steps below. Please hand the device into the school, and complete the device receipt form with your child's details (the student who will now use the device).

• If you are repurposing an old Surface that hasn't been previously enrolled please ensure you do the following before handing the device into the school:

  • Back up your files (for more information about backing up your files in Windows please see here)*

• • Ensure device is fully charged

*Please note that the Surface will be wiped and reset to factory setting during enrolment. Although a full backup can be taken only the backed up files can restored onto the enrolled device. User preferences, software and applications cannot be restored from backup onto the enrolled device.

Once prepared

• Hand device into the school for enrolment

• Complete Device Receipt Form

• We will be in touch regarding collection

  • Depending on the time of year, you may be invited to a device distribution day (start of academic year) or the device will be handed to your child at school. 

  • Device enrolment may take up to a week during busy periods i.e. the start of term.

  • If enrolment takes place during term time a loan device will be provided for your child to use.

Terms & Conditions

Please review the terms and conditions available in the documentation section of the website regarding the private purchase of devices. Charges may occur if these are not adhered to. 

If your child is without a device for a short period of time you can arrange a short-term loan through the school.  

If this is due to awaiting repair and you have purchased your child's device via our school technology partner Easy4U, the cost of the loan device will be covered by your insurance, however, if you have purchased your device privately you will be recharged a nominal fee.

The cost of loaning a school device is as follows:

• £10 per week 

• £120 per term
