Henry Carr was a 2015 Graduate of King Philip High School who participated in many projects at KP and strived to bring the community together. As president of KP Cares in his senior year henry was determined to grow the club in the hopes of uniting students through acts of kindness and community service. His passion towards this cause as well as his determination, helped shape the club into what it is today.
After his diagnosis in the spring of his junior year, Henry made it a point not to let cancer define him. He was determined to keep pushing towards his goals and making a difference. During his senior year while going through chemo, Henry held many cancer awareness and fundraising events to raise money for two other KP students diagnosed the same year. He was relentless in his passion to help others. After graduation Henry attended The College of the Holy Cross and continued to make a difference. He became VP of his class and was actively involved in 15-40 Connection which is a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness for early cancer detection.
In the spring of 2017 when Henry was told there were no more treatment options he still did not slow down. In one of our conversations during that time I asked Henry if we could create a scholarship in his name. I wanted to know if he could choose the recipient what would be the criteria. He only had 1, he wanted the candidates to write an essay entitled "Tell me what it is you plan to do with your one wild and crazy life."
The Henry Carr Scholarship benefits two King Philip High School graduating seniors. Each senior receives a $1000 scholarship.
