James Dow is a four-year DECA member and serves as President of King Philip DECA. He has qualified for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) many times and earned a Top 10 international finish. Through DECA, James has developed a passion for leadership, business, and teamwork. As president, he is excited to help every member succeed while continuing to grow the chapter and create new opportunities for all.
Both of the Presidents are the face of our chapter whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to conducting chapter/officer meetings , along with representing the chapter at events.
The Vice President coordinates KP Clubs and teams for combined community service projects while also assisting the other officers fulfill their roles as well.
Addie Townsend is a four-year DECA member serving as the Director of Development. Addie has competed in the categories of Integrated Marketing Campaign Service, and International Business Plan. Addie has qualified for ICDC three times, and has made ICDC stage the past two years. DECA has given Addie confidence in her abilities, and has helped her network. As Director of Development, Addie is eager to give all members the chance to enhance their DECA experience and gain new friendships with other members.
The Director of Development takes the initiatives to the classroom, being there to guide members to success in project execution and as the organizer behind chapter events.
Benjamin Murphy is a one year King Philip DECA Member serving as the Director of Operations. Competing in the PMCG category, Ben came in second place at the regional level, and finalized at states. He has also taken the IGNITE Leadership class at the 2026 International Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. As a filmmaker and "Jack-of-all-trades," for the local television station in Norfolk, Ben is excited to use his skillset to help inspire and aid the DECA chapter.
The Director of Operations guides the chapter's efforts in marketing and public relations. This includes running the social media accounts, managing the chapter website, and making promotional material/content for the chapter's use.
Ashley Cleverdon is a three-year DECA member serving as the Director of Communications for 2026-2027. She has qualified for ICDC twice through her Finance Operations Research Event, which she completed independently while developing valuable skills in research, communication, and problem-solving. DECA has inspired Ashley to pursue a future in finance and accounting, and she looks forward to helping new members find their passions and build lifelong skills as part of the officer team.
The Director of Communications is in charge of the Chapter's remind, newsletter, and is responsible for collaboration with all KP Clubs and teams for combine community service projects.
The Directors of Competitive Events coordinate students efforts in written events, specializing introducing members to new DECA categories and ensuring that all student materials are properly submitted for competition.
The Secretary develops internal communication, overseas membership clothing, and coordinates the DECA Inc. and MASS-DECA Campaigns. In addition, the secretary also creates KP DECA press releases for local media/newspapers.
Donnelle is a four-year DECA member and is excited to serve as Store Manager this year. Through DECA, she has learned so many valuable skills, from communication and leadership to working with a team and handling real-world challenges. As Store Manager, she helps oversee the school store, manage inventory, and keep things running smoothly. She is looking forward to giving back to a program that has taught her so much and helping make the store a great experience for students.
The Store Managers overseas operations of the KP DECA Mini-Mall store, monitoring new orders, store inventory, and cookie operation. This also consists of running the online Mini-Mall store as well.
Rowan Kavanah is a three year DECA member as well as a qualifier for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC). Through his involvement in DECA, he has developed a love for connecting with members and helping them grow through competition and leadership. As Co-Director of Conferences, he is excited to make every conference a valuable experience for members while continuing to build on the chapter’s tradition of success.
Cole is a 3 year DECA member and serves as the Co-Director of Conferences for KP DECA. He has competed in EIP, EIB, and now IMCS, and has attended the ICDC Leadership Academy. Whether it’s listening to presentations, checking for penalty points, or simply talking in the DECA room at lunch, Cole has developed a passion for helping others, creativity, and making connections. Through this role, he hopes to not only ensure competitive success and manage conference logistics, but also to be a supportive friend and mentor to every KP DECA member.
