At KH8 we believe in the concept of sport for all and provide a varied Physical Education curriculum to enable students to participate in as many sports as possible. The focus is on promoting a healthy lifestyle and developing healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
“Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game.”
Michael Jordan
Physical Education at KH8 is designed to expose students to a wide variety of sports that will help to develop a good range of basic transferable physical skills. One of our main focuses is to educate students on the importance of an active lifestyle and the impact it can have both on our physical and mental health and wellbeing, with a view to develop lifelong healthy habits.
As well as developing their physical skills, students will also be given opportunities to develop their softer skills such as teamwork, decision making and leadership. These are all qualities that will help students both on and off the sports field as they progress through their education and beyond.
As students skills and abilities can vary from sport to sport, it is normal for a students assessment grades to vary during KS3 based on the sports covered in the most recent term. The assessment criteria for each sport is scaled down from the iGCSE curriculum. Below are examples of the grade descriptors for a grade 9 and grade 6 in badminton.
