What is the Summer School Baltica?
The Summer School Baltica is a two-week international programme that brings together a diverse cohort, including EIT Master School and PhD students, as well as urban mobility experts, to tackle real-life city challenges. Through visits to two cities – Tartu and Riga, participants explore local issues and co-create innovative startup ideas. The programme employs Challenge-Based Learning and hands-on methods to foster entrepreneurship, support smart city development, and promote sustainable urban solutions.
What is the objective of the programme?
The programme aims to deliver high-quality, challenge-based education that connects students and experts across sectors and countries. Its objectives include introducing innovative learning formats, addressing real urban mobility challenges, and broadening access to entrepreneurship education. In doing so, it supports startup creation and helps build a skilled talent pool for the future of sustainable cities.
Who can apply?
The programme welcomes students, participants in non-degree education and training programmes, as well as professionals working in the field of urban mobility.
Where will the programme take place, and what should I bring?
The programme will take place in Tartu, Estonia (near the University of Tartu), and Riga, Latvia (near Riga Technical University in Kipsala). Exact locations will be shared closer to the start date.
Please bring:
Your laptop and charger;
Comfortable clothes;
A reusable water bottle;
A notebook and pen for quick ideas.
How should I arrange my travels?
For EIT Master School students, the organisers will contact you separately.
For external participants, travel should be arranged independently. Information regarding arrival and departure times will be provided in May.
What are the requirements for participating in the programme?
The programme is open to external participants interested in urban mobility, innovation, and entrepreneurship. We welcome individuals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds ready to collaborate in an interdisciplinary, international environment.
What is the price of the Summer School Baltica?
Early Bird Pricing (Until 23rd of June): Cost: 700 euros + VAT*
Regular Pricing (After 23rd of June): Cost: 1000 euros + VAT*
*Please note that the price does not include travel expenses to and from the event location from your home and accommodation.
What is included in the price?
The price includes the challenge-based Summer School Baltica programme, breakfast and lunches, social events, and transfer from Tartu to Riga.
What are the terms and conditions for payment?
Payment collection scheme for external participants:
EIT Urban Mobility will collect all the Summer School Baltica participation fees;
On the 1st and 15th of each month, you will receive the invoice from EIT Urban Mobility.
What are the accommodation arrangements for participants during the event?
For EIT Master School students: the organisers are handling all the travel arrangements, so participants don't need to worry about it.
For external participants, accommodation should be arranged independently.
