Superintendent's Agreements

According to Maine law, a student is eligible to attend schools in the school administrative unit in which his or her parent resides. 


If your physical address is not in Monmouth, your student’s enrollment outside of your district of residence is based upon a Superintendent’s Transfer Agreement. These Agreements are designed to facilitate a student’s transfer from one school administrative unit (SAU) to another for the student’s best interest. Per Title 20-A MRSA Section 5205(6):


Two superintendents may approve the transfer of a student from one school administrative unit to another if:


A Superintendent’s agreement is subject to approval by both superintendents and transportation is the responsibility of the parent(s)/guardian(s).


An agreement request will expire at the end of the requested school year and there is no guarantee that future transfer requests will be approved.

Your district of residence may require a different form for their records that you can find by calling their superintendent's office.
