Arrival and Dismissal Guidelines
ARRIVAL GUIDELINES
Cars arriving at the school for dropoff should pull up along the curb outside the main entrance of Monmouth Memorial School. In the event of a school delay, the building is open one or two hours after 7:15, depending on the time of the delay.
School doors are locked before arrival times. As there is no supervision prior to 7:15, students should remain in their vehicles prior to the arrival of duty staff at the main door at 7:15 and walkers should not arrive early.
When they arrive at school, students will proceed to their classrooms. If a younger student needs assistance, please notify duty staff and we will arrange for a staff member to walk with them.
DISMISSAL GUIDELINES
The designated person picking up an MMS student at the end of the day should pull up to the curb in front of the main entrance of the school. Duty staff will approach your car and provide instructions.
MMS uses Pickup Patrol (PUP) for parents to communicate dismissal plan changes. Changes can be entered in advance through the PUP web app from a smartphone or computer. Submit all changes no later than 12:00. After 12:00, changes will not be accepted except in the case of an emergency. The end of the school day is a busy time. To ensure the safety of all students, please plan accordingly and limit these exceptions to emergencies ONLY.
All plan changes should be submitted through PickUp Patrol.
For a safe dismissal, it’s essential that we know your student’s regular daily dismissal plan (Default Plan) at the beginning of every new school year. Please enter Default Plans using the PUP app or here: https://app.pickuppatrol.net/parents
NEW PARENTS: You will receive a registration email from PickUp Patrol with a link to set up your account. The PUP web app is free to parents and you can use it from your smartphone or computer. Instructions for how to add the app to your phone are included in the registration email. If you do not receive an email from us, please contact the main office.
RETURNING PARENTS: If you are not able to login to your account, contact the school to confirm your email address with our records.
Parents will also be asked to designate a pickup person for their child on beginning of the year paperwork. Any person other than the designated pickup person must be identified to the office ahead of time and should be prepared to provide identification for duty staff. We ask that parents do not message their child directly to dismiss them, as we account for each student as they are dismissed by radio.
LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY DISMISSAL
If a student arrives after regular school hours or departs school prior to 2:15 pm:
Enter the first set of MMS doors to access the intercom system to the right in the vestibule.
Buzz the office through the intercom. The transporting adult should be prepared to provide identifying information if asked and/or consent to sign the student in or out at the main office.Late-arrival students will take a late pass and proceed to class when buzzed in the building.
In the event of dismissal for non-illness, the office staff will notify the child’s classroom teacher that the child is to report to the main entrance prepared for dismissal. The transporting adult will be asked to wait in the vestibule or outside the building, weather permitting.
Students who are dismissed prior to 2:15 pm must be signed out through the main office. Families who pickup after 2:15 should follow our regular dismissal process as the office has already begun dismissal at this time.
