IO1 Educators interactive remote teaching system
In this session we will develop an online supporting learning platform to enable the teachers to deliver an analogous on-line version of frontal activities, maintaining as much as possible the core guiding concepts and principles used in the frontal activities. The platform would be a web-app developed for these specific activities. The platform is targeted for educators and students (could also be used by parents to do activities with their kids). The platform will be multilingual, content will be created in one language and then could be translated into other languages.
This platform will be used as the framework of the whole IO development.
IO2 Presentation tools and techniques
How to make a video lesson?
The aim of this module is to support teachers to record their tutorials in a high quality.
We will create an 8 lesson long video course about recording and editing video lessons. Each video lesson will be approx. 20 minutes long.
IO3 Methodology
How to create Online, Remote, Blended learning materials
This topic will be elaborated in the form of a video course for teachers. The course will compound 7 video lessons, 20 minutes each.
Gamification, evaluation in the digital space
This session will compound of a triggering video film (20+ minutes) about the usefulness of the gamification and a teachers’ guide that introduces the different ways and technics of gamification with lots of examples, concrete working plans and good practices.
Engagement of students – Engage!
Engagement of students is a core element of the successful learning process. During schooltime students are engaged with different activities inside and outside of the classroom.
„Learning by doing” approach in the learning process has a huge importance to develop students’ engagement. When face to face meetings, real common physical activities cannot be organised, it is difficult to keep students engaged only through digital classroom activities.
IO4 Learning skills
21th century skills – Focus on future!
In this part we are going to provide project ideas that can be facilitated through digital education remotely. 21th century skills covers the following areas: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, information literacy, media literacy, technology literacy, flexibility, leadership, initiative, productivity, social skills.
The project ideas contain 10 lesson plans suitable for digital implementation, and a guide to avoid common pitfals when teaching these skills. The material will be downloadable and online available.
Learning technics
It’s a great advantage during all learning process but especially when children have to learn alone to have good technics for searching and presenting informations, online cooperation, information visualization. In this session we will deal with such technics like how and why to take notes, create mindmaps, word clouds, timelines, etc, and how they can help learning.
We will elaborate a handbook and tutorial videos. The handbook will give teacher some psychological background about the usage of the mentioned technics, and provides 3-3 tasks for exercising them. The tutorial videos will present the usage of some concrete example applications for all detailed technics.
The handbook will be downloadable and online available.
IO5 Internet safety
In this session we will create a handbook and a toolset of different activities that teachers can use when dealing with the topics listed below. The handbook will provide knowledge,
informations and sources about the topics.
Introduction to the world of cyberbullying
Online hate speech and protection of personal rights
Recognizing and handling online harassment
Deepfakes – forgery of image and video content in online spaces
Usage of applications
IO6 SEN education
In this section a toolset will be developed that can orientate teachers teaching SEN or physically challenged students online in integrated classes. Parts of the toolset:
-Theoretical background - highlights the main problems that SEN students face when learning online / from home.
-Tips and advices how to make the online or home learning environment more comfortable for them.
-Collection of IT solutions for this.
-Methodological description of how the portal developed in the frame of recent project can help and improve the learning experience of SEN students.
IO7 Creating creative contents
Digital animation as tool of story telling
We will create a 15 lesson long video tutorial for teachers about creation of digital animation with different techniques. We will introduce theory of animation, phases of preparation, the possible outcomes of using various techniques (paper, stop-motion, pixeling etc.), various photography and editing methods.
Educational 3D models teachers’ printing guide
Create 10-10 lesson guide for teachers to integrate 3D printing in cross-curricular activities in the classroom. It will cover points such as 3D printing concept introduction and its limitations, 3D printable files preparation, the use of CAD software in schools and 3D scanning applications available for classroom use, printing tips to be used in class. The guide will contain ideas on how to integrate 3D printing into the Curriculum in order to teach i.e. physics, mathematics, biology. It will present the initial background knowledge on 3D printing and its classroom potential, adaptability and the impact on future employability.
Computer graphics in STEAM
We will create a guide for a 10 lesson long course in computer graphics, where basic computer graphics concepts and actions are taught by challenges inspired by famous paintings of optical illusion - like pictures by Vasarely, Escher, Agam, etc. These challenges synthetize topics of arts, mathematics, physics, biology through computer graphics. The guide will compound of lesson plans, samples, tasksheets, collection of sources of pictures.
IO8 Programming and coding
Teacher training course for programming with Tinkergen GameGo
Create 10-10 lessons with game programming tutorials designed to help children develop kids' graphical programming skills with TinkerGen's GameGo and Microsoft MakeCode Arcade as teaching tools. Showing teachers the basics of programming, step by step, from complete beginner to intermediate level using easy-to-hard approach. Project-based teachers tutorials for the course will be easily adaptable to serve as lessons for children (programming guide).
Robotics online
Using Ozobot, we will develop a methodology that enables the integration of robotics into the teaching of other subject even if the students are physically distant from the teacher, and have no robotics kit of their own. The teacher’s guide builds upon the possibilities provided by the educational platform to be developed, that is: the enablement of children to work together, share their products, and play videos on the platform.
Unplugged algorythmical thinking
We will develop a toolkit which is well usable either online, on the interface of the interactive portal, or offline. The toolkit will contain an exercise book, designed to improve the students’ algorithmic thinking skills using hands on activities.
IO9 How to help at home?
We will develop a flexible, versatile toolset for each topic. Picking and choosing between the various elements of the toolset, it becomes suited for processing the topic in an entertaining way in school or at home. It will contain ways and methodological advice for multiple approaches, including teaching-based, talk-based or workshop-based directions.
Based on the finished methodological materials, we will also work out for all above strategies the student-focused materials adapted for the interactive education portal. Furthermore, we will develop the handouts with which teachers can prepare parents for the implementation of the method at home.
IO10 Learning environment
Wellbeing of the student – Wellbeing toolset
Teachers and parents need to facilitate the students not only in their learning process but in their daily routin and their freetime. Learning from home takes the well-known daily routine frames out of the students’ life. Even the digital education follows the school’s timetable, the environment, the technical opportunities, the friends and peers and the supervision of an adult are missing. It can cause deviation in the daily routin and the physical and mental wellbeing of students.
The session of wellbeing will be a toolset for teachers that highlights the importance of physical and mental wellbeing of students with methods, tools and strategies that can be applied by the teachers to keep the wellbeing level of students on the level that supports the learning process:
Evaluation and motivation in online spaces at various ages
In the spring of 2020, online education at home shed light on just how complex parents’ roles are in aiding the education of their children. One of the most important such role is to motivate the children, and to upkeep their motivation. We provide a toolset of methods and communication tools for teachers that enable parents to assess their child’s learning style, and to aid them in the learning process in accordance to their assessment, taking the child’s personality, mental state and studying strategy into consideration. We support teachers in their use of online and offline tools with a teachers’ guide and the parents with handouts, which enable the teacher and the parent to evaluate and motivate the child together, using gamification and positive reinforcement.
