Clinical Director and Speech-Language Pathologist
Shannon has been a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist in the Province of Ontario since 1998. She has spent her career working with preschool and school-aged children. Shannon strongly believes in every child's ability to communicate.
Shannon has consistently studied a wide variety of therapeutic techniques to maintain a level of excellence in her field. She has received Level 1 and Level 2 PROMPT training, Lidcombe training, "It Takes Two to Talk" Hanen training and Level 1 Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) training. Shannon has attended the Pragamatic Organization Dynamic Display (PODD) Introductory Workshop, and she has attended courses in literacy development, articulation treatment, best practice for Autism Spectrum Disorder, and neonatal feeding and swallowing. As a result of her career experiences and ongoing education, Shannon has developed skills necessary to provide comprehensive therapeutic options for children with complex medical needs.
Shannon is registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). She is also certified by Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC).
Janene Catney, E.C.E., R.T.
Speech-Language Assistant
Janene began her career as a Resource Teacher in 1998, working with preschool and school age children with special needs. She worked with families, integrating their children into local preschools, schools and community programs. Janene’s experience has shown her the difference a successful method of communication can make for children and their families.
Janene has completed advanced studies in Special Needs. She has extensive experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and has taken many courses in behaviour management. She has also received training in articulation treatment.
Janene’s education, experience and understanding of the importance of communication led her to the role of Speech-Language Assistant in 2012. Janene believes that play-based communication therapy facilitates a child’s success, providing the confidence to communicate in a natural environment.
