Blåisvatnet (the Blue Lake) in Sør-Lenangen is a gorgeous lake with an intense blue colour that stands in strong contrast to the steep mountains in the background. Getting there is an hike that suits young and old alike. The trail is rocky, so you should wear sturdy shoes and be sure footed.
Blåisvatnet has an idyllic location at the foot of the Lenangsbreen glacier on the Lyngen peninsula. The walk here is an experience you will remember.
The walk to and from Blåisvatnet is roughly 8 km. Allow about 90 minutes to reach the lake and an hour to walk back again.The lake lies at an altitude of 189 m, and most of the walk there is in relatively gentle and flat terrain. The last part of the walk up to the lake involves climbing over large stones and scree.

You will head towards the west coast, driving through the island of Kvaløya. You will see the most beautiful spots to admire on the way You will stop at some easily accessible spots: From breath taking fjord view, valleys and beaches, you will get to see the arctic landscape that the region has to offer.

The most popular glacier arm of Svartisen Glacier to visit is Austerdalsisen, which can be reached by taking a 20-minute boat ride across Svartisvatnet Lake. You can also take the coastal road Fv17 in Melroy municipality to view the incredible Svartisen Glacier directly from the road.
To the Glacier:
From the boat landing point on the other side of the fjord, you can walk along a gravel road for about 3 km.
From there, you'll begin a climb to the glacier itself.
Good footwear is essential, especially if it's been raining.
