Sneha Khetan is the founder of Sustainable Charlotte Organization. Attends the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (Durham).
Sneha's story: My family and I visited Palo Alto, CA and saw that when picking up groceries they do not give you the actual grocery bag. In Palo Alto, there is a concept of composting kitchen and garden waste which everybody should be involved in. To take action, I decided to create a website to allow the young of this generation to realize that climate change is a problem and that kids can do in their homes to address it. The website introduces theory as well as practical things that students and their families can do in their homes to live sustainably.
When we know the problem, why not address it?
Being a middle schooler myself upon founding, I understood and could relate to the middle school work ethic. Ever since I was born, my family has been traveling to places all over the world. From an early age, I started noticing how in most countries, the environment is not a priority. My curiosity led me to research more about this issue as I grew older. I saw simple solutions that could help solve this huge problem. By making this organization, we can make a difference throughout our community and hopefully, around the world.
