Dr. Siamkhanthang Neihsial is a Computational Materials Chemist. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong (2010) under the supervision of Prof. Richard H. Duncan Lyngdoh, and subsequently pursued postdoctoral research (2011–2016) in the Theoretical Sciences Unit at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore, under the mentorship of Prof. Swapan K. Pati. He has seven years of research experience and six years of teaching experience in higher education.
His research focuses on synthetic DNA analogs, fuel cells, lithium-ion battery materials, and hydrogen storage nanomaterials. Using advanced quantum chemical and computational techniques, Dr. Neihsial explores the physicochemical principles governing nanomaterial behavior and energy storage processes. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, authored two books, and contributed two book chapters
Dr. Neihsial has received several prestigious fellowships and awards, including the I2CAM International Junior Scientist Travel Award (National Science Foundation, 2012), the DST-SERC FAST Track Young Scientist Fellowship (2014–2017), the Empowerment and Equity Opportunities for Excellence in Science Award (SERB, 2023–2026), and the INSA Visiting Scientist Fellowship at IIT Delhi (2023–2024).
He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal, Manipur (India).
