Our PSHE classroom is an honest, courageous and empathetic space where students can thrive.
We build an inclusive community grounded in our ROCK essential agreement:
Respect, Open-mindedness, Confidentiality (& the limits) and Kindness / Knowledge.
This means we:
Appreciate diversity by seeking to understand beyond our own perspectives. We broaden our minds with compassion.
Foster trust, safety and respect by distancing the learning, not asking personal questions nor disclosing inappropriate details, and ensuring discussions are kept within these walls.
(unless concerned about someone harming themselves or others).
Pursue growth and wisdom by speaking courageously yet kindly. We share and listen to learn.
Support wellbeing by upholding dignity. We build each other up.
Racist language: We do not accept any form of language that perpetuates racial stereotypes, promotes prejudice, or marginalizes individuals based on their race or ethnicity.
Sexist language: We actively avoid using language that reinforces gender stereotypes, discriminates against individuals based on their gender identity or expression, or undermines the equality and dignity of all genders.
Homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic language: We do not tolerate any language that discriminates against individuals based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We create an environment that respects and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community.
Ableist language: We actively avoid using language that belittles or marginalises individuals with disabilities. We promote inclusivity and strive to create an environment where everyone is valued and respected, regardless of their abilities.
Ageist language: We do not tolerate language that discriminates against individuals based on their age. We encourage intergenerational understanding and respect for people of all ages.
Discriminatory language based on religion or belief: We actively avoid using language that targets individuals based on their religious beliefs or lack thereof. We promote religious and cultural diversity, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.
Offensive or derogatory language: We do not tolerate any language that is offensive, derogatory, or disrespectful towards individuals or groups. We aim to create a space where everyone feels valued and heard.
