Theatre 3 is broken into three sections. The first section will be our one-act competition piece, the second part is a dance composition, and the third is a technical theatre project. The VHSL one act competition is normally held the first weekend in November. We will be working on a piece as if we were going to compete in this competition. The second section is Dance technique and composition. For the dance composition, you will be expected to dance and move and do so in several genre types. It is important for actors (especially musical theatre majors) to know basic choreography so that if a director wants you to move a certain way for a production, you will know how. Finally, the third section is technical theatre. We will be researching different aspects of technical theatre and presenting a project to the class at the end of the semester. We will also spend a good amount of time on the auditioning process by performing several monologues (comedic and dramatic) to prepare them for college auditions and interviews.
