Meet Mrs. Farrar

Donna Farrar has been teaching for 18 years. She has attended Old Dominion University , where she graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services Counseling and in 2002 with a Master of Science in Special Education. In April of 2016, she graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching specializing in Orientation and Mobility for Children from Western Michigan University. Donna has taught all over the states of Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. She has worked in the public school, the private sector, and for a non- profit. Donna holds a Post-Graduate Professional Teaching Certificate from the state of Virginia in the areas of Vision, Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Severe Disabilities, as well as being highly qualified in the area of elementary reading. As an educator, Donna feels that students need to be provided educational opportunities that encourage independence and that all children are blessings that should be cherished by their communities at large.

Donna currently lives in Orange, Virginia with her husband (Jay) of 20 years and his son, Jason. Her family is enhanced by the presence of her 84 year-old mother, her 12 year-old niece and her brother who all also live with them. Donna loves to read and loves animals. A stray animal is never turned away. Her family currently has nine dogs and three cats. Donna loves spending time with family and friends, reading, volunteering, and taking care of her pets.
