In this topic pupils will develop a deeper understanding of information technology and digital literacy by using their skills across the unit to create a blog post about a real-world cause that they are passionate about and would like to gain support for.
In these three lessons, pupils will gain a comprehensive understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its responsible use. They will learn to distinguish between rule-based and data-driven AI systems and explore how their personal data is utilised by these systems, with a focus on fairness, honesty, and transparency.
The curriculum also covers generative AI, teaching pupils about the types of media these tools can create, such as text, images, and videos. A critical component is learning how to evaluate and check online information for accuracy, especially given the potential for misinformation from AI-generated content.
Finally, pupils will identify their responsibilities when using AI tools and develop their own principles for fairness, accountability, and transparency in AI applications. The overall goal is to enable students to use and share technology and AI content both safely and responsibly.
