Since 2020, schools around the world have faced significant challenges in recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. While all students experienced setbacks, those in foundational grades (K–3) have been disproportionately affected due to interrupted instruction during critical early learning years. According to Nature Human Behaviour (Vol. 7), students lost approximately 35% of the 2019 academic year—a loss equivalent to nearly one-third of the school year. The most substantial deficits were observed in reading and math, underscoring the urgent need for targeted academic recovery in these core areas.
