The school will provide a method book for each student - “Tradition of Excellence” Book #1
Some music stores provide a book as a part of your rental agreement.
If so, your student may keep this book at home for practice and use the other copy at school!
Suggested brands: Gemeinhardt, Yamaha, Artley, Bundy
Flutes should be silver in color - no “fun” colors.
Cleaning Rod (should come with the flute) or silk swab
Silver Polishing Cloth
Suggested brands: Yamaha, Vito, Buffet, Selmer, Bundy
Clarinet must be black in color. No “fun” colors.
Clarinet cleaning swab - SILK is strongly, strongly encouraged. Felt swabs sometimes get stuck easily.
Cork Grease
Box of Reeds - We recommend Mitchell Lurie 2.5 or VanDoren. Reed size should be 2.5.
Clark Fobes Debut Mouthpiece - highly encouraged.
Reed Guard - Holds between 2-8 reeds.
Rovner Ligature - this is a higher quality and more durable ligature compared to the beginner level ligatures.

Beginning percussion kit that includes practice pad, xylophone, and stand. THIS KIT WILL REMAIN AT HOME FOR PRACTICE.
Vic Firth Education Pak or equivalent, as provided by music store - comes with stick bag, snare drum sticks, and 2 different sets of mallets. Students will bring this to/from school daily.
You do not need to purchase a snare drum.
