Outreach

We are open to new opportunities for outreach, including visits to campus by students in grades 7-12 and teachers, particularly from the Genesee Intermediate School District. Please contact the Laboratory Director if you would like arrange a visit or receive more information about the instruments in the lab and how it may be incorporated in your curriculum.

Presentations:

• Ronald E. Kumon, "Introduction to Optical Microscopy," Science and Engineering Career Exploration Camp, Kettering University, Flint, Michigan (August 2019). This presentation covers topics including a brief history of optical microscopes, visible and fluorescent staining of cells, particle and wave properties of light, the basic physics of fluorescence, and the fundamentals of confocal microscopy.
