"Study and Enhancements of Non-photorealistic rendering techniques"

The research was conducted under the supervision of Prof. P. S Grover. The major goal of the research work was to study the non-photorealistic rendering (NPR) techniques and to expand the range of rendering styles available to the artists and designers for creating images and animations. The outcome of the research work included techniques to combine the expressivities of natural media with the flexibility of computer graphics. The research work focused on three NPR techniques : cartoon rendering, crayon rendering and glass paintings. Algorithms were developed to enhance some of the existing rendering styles using these techniques. Their combinations were used to expand the range of visual styles and generate images for non-photorealistic and virtual environments.
