PHILOSOPHY
Based on my 12 years of running and racing a lot of distances I can help beginning runners get started, casual and intermediate runners get faster. I’ll build you a customized plan based on your current level of fitness and your goals.
We’ll talk so I understand your goals and needs and I’ll give you direction and support on everything from stretching, training plans, speedwork, running gear, race prep, and recovery. No matter if you’ve just started running recently or have been running for a while but not really training, I can help you get to the next level, whatever that is for you. I help coach average people to build a consistent, healthy running lifestyle that will help them meet their goals. Everyone is unique. Our backgrounds, experiences, lifestyles, bodies, and goals are different. I work to understand your situation and goals and then develop a custom fitness program that fits your needs. I will help motivate and keep you accountable in a fun, friendly way. Running should be fun and so is achieving your goals!
COACHING EXPERIENCE
My coaching experience has been informal for years as I’ve always answered questions and given running advice to friends and family. I have been a high school cross-country coach since 2014. I am also now an RRCA Certified Running Coach.
ABOUT ME
In 2010 I started working out by myself on an elliptical in the gym after having my last babies. Once I built a bit of confidence, I started to join classes at the gym, which proved to be fun and helped me to hold myself accountable. Once the newness wore off, I grew bored and I decided to do the one thing that I had no confidence in at all, run. I remember my very first mile on the treadmill. It was long, hard, and painful. I signed up for a half marathon, paid for it, got up to running seven miles at one time pushing a double jogging stroller, and then chickened out. I continued to run 2-3 miles a few times per week and then my friend told me that she was able to go out and run 9 miles so she was going to sign up for a half marathon and I thought “shoot, I bet I could run 9 miles too.” So I did. And since I could run 9 miles without stopping, I decided to sign up for the same half marathon exactly four weeks later on October 14, 2012. As I trained for the race, I began to picture myself finishing in 2 hours. The race proved to be one of the most challenging experiences of my life. I finished at 2:02. Training in 4 weeks, by myself, on flat roads did not yield optimal results. Not only did my entire body ache, but I was discouraged because I knew that I could have done better. But, I caught the bug. I could barely walk after the race, but I started to research more races. I decided to train and run a race for my birthday weekend in December of the same year. I tweaked a few things about my training. I ran with other people and I started to make a plan of how I would get a sub 2 hour half marathon. I hit my goal with a 1:55. Fast forward 9 years later, I have 3 kids, a husband, 2 dogs, 3 cats, and a full-time job. My current half marathon PR is 1:34 and my current marathon PR is 3:23 (a Boston qualifier!!) I ran Boston in April 2025. My current running goals are to 1.) Stay healthy 2.) Run the NYC Marathon in 2025 and to requalify for Boston 2027. 3.) I want to work on my speed in both the 5k and 10k.
RACING HISTORY
I've raced over thirty half marathons and ten full marathons. In recent years I’ve trained more and gotten more competitive. My favorite part of 5k and 10k races are picking out someone running near me and either holding on to them as long as I can until passing them and then catching the next person. I also love finishing near people that I've run the majority of the race with and encouraging each other as we cross the finish line!
One of my favorite marathon experiences was at CIM in Sacramento I started with the 3:35 pace group and our pace leader was amazing. He knew which sides of the road to stick to and even reminded us to take our nutrition. He had lots of amazing stories about the city and the race. I'm still FaceBook friends with a woman from the same pace group. Long-distance running is such a mental challenge and it helped exponentially to be surrounded and encouraged by people working towards and crushing their goals!
