Here is a simple breakdown of everything you need, why you need it, and how to enroll.
Social Security Number (SSN) or Tax ID (ITIN): This is used to connect your profile to your financial aid records. If you do not have one, you can still apply without it.
High School Transcripts: You need your GPA and course history to bypass placement tests so you can enter college-level English and Math directly.
Government-Issued ID: This is required to prove your identity and verify your residency status to secure lower California-resident tuition rates.
Financial Information: You or your parents' tax and income details are needed to see if you qualify for free tuition via grants.
Go to the CCCApply Portal to create an account and select your college. Fill out the application with your basic info, high school history, and citizenship status.
Watch your email for a welcome message, which usually arrives within 1 to 2 business days. Follow the instructions to log into your new college portal and find your unique Student ID Number.
Submit the FAFSA Application or the CADAA Application if you are an undocumented student. This automatically checks your eligibility for the California College Promise Grant, which makes tuition free for many students.
Log into your student portal to complete a short, mandatory online orientation. In the portal, complete the placement questionnaire by entering your high school GPA so the system knows you are ready for college-level courses.
Schedule a virtual or in-person appointment with a college counselor. They will look at your career goals and tell you exactly which classes you need to take to graduate or transfer.
Log into your portal on your assigned registration date to add classes to your schedule. Finish by paying any remaining fees or confirming that your financial aid has cleared your balance.
