All priorities are shaped by what students and families have expressed they need through surveys and community feedback:
Increasing parent, student, and family engagement to include culturally relevant practices and linked to learning opportunities that support the hopes and dreams of our families.
Establishing an onsite clothing closet & food pantry that will house basic needs such as clothing, hygiene products, school supplies & access to food.
Establishing partnerships with various community organizations that fill the identified gaps and barriers to student success.
Professional development opportunities for staff around the community school model and its strategies.

The Community School Collective is a team dedicated to shaping the vision and direction of Independence High School. Our goal is to make sure that students, families, and community members all have a voice in what our school offers and how we use funding from the community school grant—because we believe our programs and support should be rooted in your hopes and dreams.
Together, we work to identify barriers to student success and connect our community with the programs and resources they need to thrive.
