9th Grade Information

We welcome the Class of 2028 with important activities during the month of February and March. Families will receive a mailer from Independence in coming weeks but please note these dates:

February 22nd - Academic Programs Night; 6:00 - 7:30 in the PAC

March 14th - Orientation Night; 6:00-7:30 in the IHS Stadium

March 18th - Registration Night; 4:30 - 7:30 in the Cafeteria

March 19th - Registration Night; 4:30 - 7:30 in the Cafeteria

Academic Programs Night - February 22nd, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) to begin, break out to programs after

This presentation will be focused on all of our current academic programs offered at IHS.  This benefits new high school students and parents and those interested in learning about our Energy and Utility Career Academy, Ag Program, Band/Color Guard, AVID, etc.

Freshmen Orientation - March 14th, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM in the IHS Stadium

You do not want to miss this event for all incoming 9th graders and their parents! This is a great intro to the Falcon culture and preview of opportunities at Independence like sports, programs, and clubs to get involved with during your freshman year.

Freshmen Registration - March 18th OR March 19th, 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM in the Cafeteria

This is where incoming freshmen and their parent/guardian turn in the registration packet (given out at Orientation) with copies of 2 different forms of proof of residence (e.g. utility bill, cable bill, DMV documentation) and a copy of current immunizations. After turning in the paperwork, the student and parent/guardian will meet with an Independence staff member to select classes for the fall. In addition, students will take ID Card photos and have the opportunity to purchase IHS gear and PE clothes.
