Mira Monte High School's Black Student Union (BSU) is committed to intellectual, cultural, social and ethnic diversity. Our focus is to increase awareness and education about being an African American in today's society. We aim to build community, acceptance, and tolerance on our campus so that we will get a better understanding of others while learning about ourselves and preparing for our future.
Our vision is to build positive self-esteem, a strong support system, plan for our future, and instill LION (Leaders Innovators Organizers Navigators) PRIDE (Positive Respectful Imaginative Driven Excellent).
We work to bring about positive racial relations on campus by promoting mutual respect for all cultures. We participate in community service opportunities and campus-community interactions. We encourage all students to strive for higher education and help to make the goal achievable by providing the needed supports and opportunities to explore college and career options.
