Title: A Howl from Beyond the Stars

Zach Setters - 8th Grade

Process:

1. I drew a wolf as best as I can using GIMP based off of the pictures that I've seen in the past.

2. I decided to make a galaxy as my background because when I think of a wolf standing in a wide open field howling at night, it's as if he can see beyond the galaxy and into outer space. (I can only imagine, but that's what I think when he is all alone in a big field in the dark under the night sky.)

3. I made the background a solid color so I could use it as a reference and then put another layer in front of that.

4. I spent about 30 minutes of trial and error drawing a wolf with the pencil and then using free select to trace it.

5. When I was done I used Ctrl-X to cut out the the free select tracing and erased the black around the cut out space.

6. I accidentally messed up on tracing the mouth and nose so i just used the closest color and redrew the part but I did a bit extra because i thought that would help it blend in a bit better.

7. To make a galaxy, I used the bucket to make the surrounding black then used purple with the airbrush to make the purple part of the galaxy.

8. After that I used a bit of blue around the wolf to make the blue part of the galaxy.

9. I used white with the airbrush and held it for a second to make stars, so I added a few stars with a large light in the top left.
