Favorite Math Lessons

Two of my favorite math lesson are shown below.

The first is a compact lesson taught to 6th graders at the 7th grade level. We discuss subtracting negative integers with tiles as well as the inverse operation.

The second is a 6th grade lesson focusing on outliers and how they can affect the mean and median. Students were shown an envelope and given the bill amounts of 9 out of 10 in the envelope. Using their knowledge on mean and median we discussed possible bill amounts for the missing 10th bill.
