First, in order to avoid collecting sixty-eight poems for the White-Tailed Deer and none for the beautiful Nursery Web, or Fishing Spider, please email us and you will be given several available species to choose from.
Second, take a moment to decide which species you would like to center your poem around, but choose quickly so that other species may be returned to the available list for other writers to consider.
Third, write your poem in the way you see fit and send it to us. We do not want to dictate your poetic practice or how you explore your relationship to your species or our National Park.
The final form of this project is to be determined. Whether it is best served as a printed or digital anthology, or as integrated into a Trail Guide and map of the park, is not decided. We do know that individual poems and the collection as a whole will inform educational outreach in the park and offer new self-guided experiences for visitors.
If you have any questions about this project, are interested in contributing, or being involved in some other capacity, please contact Charlie Malone, the Program & Outreach Manager at the Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University.
